In the 16 months since Union College gymnast Heather Boulais sustained a traumatic brain injury during a practice, she has made steady progress toward recovery with the help of her family and a team of dedicated medical professionals. Now Bryan Health, the hospital that treated Boulais immediately following the accident and in the months afterward is honoring her and the people who contributed to her recovery by naming her a Trauma Champion.
Boulais, along with several medical providers including trauma surgeon and Union graduate Dr. Reginald Burton, will be honored at the annual Bryan Health Tribute to Trauma Champions event on Thursday, April 7, at the Lincoln Marriott Cornhusker Hotel.
Bryan Health produced this video for the event to share Heather’s story.
Heather Boulais’ parents and sister, Rachel, have chronicled her progress from the beginning on a special #prayersforheather Facebook group and at Caringbridge.org/heatherboulais (which requires you to create a free login).
